Cam's running blog - Day 4

The 2nd day of actually running and I did better then the 1st day of running. I had a rough night with Issac being sick but was still excited to get up and run.

Total time 30 mins on the treadmill.
Walked most of it at 4.1, ran 2 mins, walked 2 mins for 10 mins
Total miles ran 2.25 (Not sure I believe this because I ran more yesterday and had less miles, gotta love hotel treadmills) :)

Stretching and core later tonight in my room. There was no workout ball down there and I wasn't about to get on the ground at the hotel.

Cam's running blog - Day 2

Today was a recovery day, recovering from all those muscles I haven't used in WAY to long. My hips are sore and feel like they will disconnect at anytime. But I FEEL GREAT!!!

This morning I did 25 mins on the bike, 4.4miles
20 mins of core, abs and stretching. *Oh and stretching felt oh so good!

Back at it tomorrow, off to run more the 10 mins without stopping!!!

I'm going to Fleet Feet today to get my run analyzed so I can get the proper running shoes. I'm pretty sure your pinky toe falling asleep isn't a sign of good shoes. :)

A weekend I will never forget!

At the end of April the girls in my family took a trip to Pajaro Dunes for the weekend. My Aunt Paulene had won a trip and decided to treat the ladies to a weekend getaway.

Me, Mom, Grandma, Aunti Marilyn and Aunti Paulene had the best weekend eating, sewing, driving the 17 mile drive and seashell hunting. We really just spent the whole weekend relaxing, but it was a weekend I will never forget.

Here are a few pictures!!!

Oh the things I love to do with my Mommy!!!

My mom and I are best friends, we love to do just about everything together and she is ALWAYS there for me no matter what. She is the most amazing women in the world and I just hope that I am half the mom to my kids that she is to me.

One of our many things we do together is quilting. Just ask her and she will tell you I princess quilt. What is princess quilting you ask? Well it's when you don't like to cut your fabric so you have your mom do it for you. You sew everything together and iron (when Aunti Marilyn isn't there to iron for you). Once the top is finished then my mom takes it to be quilted by her friend that owns a long arm and does beautiful designs on the quilt. After that my mom does the binding (I HATE HAND STITCHING) and then I create the label to go on the back of the quilt.

So here is some of our work that we did for two baby-showers that we had this weekend.

Flat Stanley

A close friend of our from Alaska (Mahailey) asked the boys to help her with a project at her school called Flat Stanley. But because I had my knee surgery I didn't get to do as many pictures as I would have liked to. But here is what we got to do and the boys really enjoyed it.

This is the boys in front of the railroad crossing at the Folsom Train tracks!

Drake with Flat Stanley in his classroom!

Drake Stanley and his hot air balloon project for the day. It says he's going to fly it to Alaska. :)

Thanks Mahailey for asking us to help you!!

R&R after surgery

So I've come to realize I'm not super women and can't do everything. :( A sad realization for me but we have to live and learn.

Tuesday March 2nd I had knee surgery on my left knee for a torn meniscus. I was really nervous because I have never had surgery before. I went in with an open mind and was just looking forward to the out come of being able to be active again without the fear of hurting my knee worst. So off I go to surgery and sent Ricky to work while I had the surgery done (the nurse suggested that). After being poked like a pin cushion 3 times before they got the IV in, off to the OR I go. I remember them telling me that I would feel a burning for about 15 seconds and then it would go away. The burning started and I started counting. I only got to 10 before I was out!!! Work was done and off to recovery I go.

Well I thought they would have called Ricky before I was coming out of it but they didn't. So when I woke up I was all alone. I just started crying, not sure why, but that's how I reacted. When they asked what was wrong I just said I wanted Ricky. So they gave him a call and he was on his way. In the mean time the Dr came and talked to me and told me what the damage was and how much he cleaned up. And NONE of that I remember!!! I remember him standing at my feet talking to me, but I have no clue what he said. I guess I will find out on Monday at my post op. Shortly after that Ricky arrives with my iPhone in hand (ahhh he loves me). And as soon as I saw him I started crying again. Silly I know! :)

All I wanted once we left the surgery center was a frozen yogurt. Ricky brought me to 2 different places and they were all close because it was only 10:30am. :( So Ricky dropped me off at my Grandma's house were the boys were for the day and back to work Ricky went. I still really wanted that frozen yogurt so a call into my best friend for my special order was made. Shortly after lunch Jenn arrived with the PERFECT frozen yogurt in hand and a goodie bag of hot tamales, good n plenty's and snicker doodles in hand. (Thanks Jenn!) I spent the rest of the day sleeping and resting, like a good girl!

Day #2 I woke up feeling much better then Day1 so what did that mean? That meant I climbed the stairs and took a shower, helped Ricky get the boys ready, and went down stairs to make Ricky and Drake's lunch. I arrived at mom's and was starting to feel the pain from doing to much. So in the chair I went and wasn't moving for the rest of the day. I got up to go to the bathroom and my sweatpants were soaking wet down on the bottom of my wrap. Yep, did way to much and my incisions were leaking fluid because of it. So back in the chair I went to rest for the rest of the day.

Day #3, I slept up in our room last night (mistake #1) because in the middle of the night when I had to get up to take my pain meds I couldn't get Ricky to wake up to get me crackers and water. So downstairs I went to get what I needed. Got up in the morning and realized we didn't take the garbage out the night before. So once I thought Ricky was gone and the coast was clear i went out to take the garbage out. Well the coast wasn't clear, Ricky was still in the driveway in the truck because he had taken the garbage cans down before he left. Ooops, busted! Came back inside and HAD to vacuum, there was dirt everywhere from the dogs and I just knew I wouldn't be able to sit all day in the chair if I could see the dirt on the ground. Upstairs I went to get ready for the day, out of the shower and foot was swollen and knee throbbing. One would think I should have stopped there, but no! Went on to get ready, and headed out of the house on a beautiful day to take Drake and Issac to Drake's girlfriends house. I thought I was doing myself a favor by taking the boys over there to play and Barbara promised to take care of me while we were there (and she did). But what I didn't realize was how much driving hurt my knee, just little things like getting in and out of the car hurt really bad. After a few hours of playing and lunch we headed home to REST!! Well it was to late, I was beyond in PAIN and hadn't taken my meds in 12 hours so that I could drive the kids safely. I'm not one to cry from pain but I was on the verge of tears from the amount of pain I had put myself in. So I took 2 pills and waited and waited and waited for them to kick in. It took a good hour for the pills to start working again and that was the worst hour of pain I have had yet.

So yes people, lesson learned!!! No more doing to much, I PROMISE!!! I am still in pain and taking my meds every 4 hours as I am suppose to. So Day #4 I am back at my mom's and resting as I should be.

Facebook good, Bloging not so much!

Sorry guys I have been slacking a little bit on my blog. :( But I do have a reason, Drakey was sick with the flu and then he was kind enough to share it with me. And we have had house guests for the past two weeks....Soooooooo here I am getting back on track.

A little funny story from my lovely little 4 year old.

This past weekend we ran away to San Francisco for a little family Valentine's Day dinner with the Callejo's. As you guys might know it's Chinese New Year as well and if you know anything about Chinese New Year you look forward to the little red envelopes. So when we got to dinner Aunti Julie handed each of the boys their red envelopes. Drake's little eyes were full of excitement when he realized just what was in the red envelope.

So upon returning home Drake went up stairs to find his pants that had to red envelope in it. Well those pants were in the suitcase full of dirty clothes in his room. So when he came down stairs proud with his money in hand I knew what happened up in his room. I was making dinner so I asked Drake if he dumped all his clothes out that were in his suitcase to find his money. Oh so proudly he replied, Yep mom, I sure did. So I asked him to go upstairs and put all the clothes in the dirty hamper that he took out of the suitcase. He thought about it for a minute and then asked if everything was dirty and I said yes.

At this point I was proud and happy that he hadn't argued with me at all and was on his way up stairs to clean up his mess. Then he stopped half way up the stairs and said, "Mom, why should I do your chores for you?" My jaw dropped wide open, I couldn't believe he had actually just said that to me. I looked at Ricky and he just laughed...............hmmmm wonder where he gets it from??? So here comes Drake down the stairs, "Mom, I'm all done. I did your chores for you." He really had no idea what he was saying to me or how much trouble he was in for saying it. So I just let it roll off my back, but after the 2nd comment I had to put him in his place. So I told him "Drakey, keep it up dude and you will have no clean underwear."

I love this kid with all my heart and soul, but I swear to the Lord above I will beat him if he ever says anything to me again about my chores again. :)

Round 2!

My brave boys went through round 2 of their dental work on Friday. Both of them did a GREAT job but let me tell you that Issac was soooooooooo brave I couldn't believe it. His filling was on his front tooth so he had to get the sleepy juice right in the front of his gums which I can imagine hurts soooooooooo bad. But my brave little man just asked for his momma to hold his hand. Not one tear rolled down his little face.

Not sure how the next round will go since Issac now knows that the dentist isn't all toys and video games. But we will worry about that at the end of the month. Great job boys!!!

Utah winter wonderland!

I am so blessed in so many ways it's hard for me to count!

I just spent the last 5 days in Utah with my hubby and great friends!
We ate yummy food, drank lots of drinks and watched a couple movies.

Utah was so beautiful and the snow was so much fun (but I couldn't live in it).

I got to see some famous people and got a swag bag of goodies!
All and all it was an amazing trip!

But it wouldn't have been possible if my mom didn't watch the boys for us for 5 days while we went off and acted like kids again! Thanks MOMMA!!!

So far so good!

2010 has brought us nothing but good things, so far so good!

Well besides the dental bill we are raking up way to quickly with both of the boys having 3 cavity's and Drakey needing a baby root canal. All I have to say is fruit snacks and fruit roll-ups are the devil! But I have brave kids and Drake did amazing at his root canal (he loved the video games). Now check back on the 29th when Issac man goes for his 3 cavity appt. Anyone want to go with me?

Drake started itty bitty basketball this week and is loving every minute of it. It's nothing more then drills and running around the court like a crazy man, but he loves it. First night of practice he asked me to get him a red basketball jersey because he was gonna be on the red team. Too cute!

Now onto ME!! So I started 2010 with a BIG change, got a new hair do!!! I LOVE it and everyone else seems to, too. I keep getting the comment that everyone loves it so much better then blonde. Which only leaves me to wonder did my hair really look that bad??? Oh well, here I am now brunette and loving it!

Here's to 2010!

So I was a bad mom and didn't take a picture of the 4 of us this year!
Here is the latest picture of the four of us on Christmas Eve.
So here's to an AMAZING 2010 for all of those that we are so blessed to call our family and friends! We wish you all a wonderful year full of happiness and well being.

As you know this blog was my New Year's resolution, I just started it a little early to get a jump on things. But there is always more to work on in the Harder house hold.

So I will take a quote from a picture that is hanging on my wall in my kitchen...

In this Home....
We do second chances.
We do grace.
We do real.
We do mistakes.
We do sorrys.
We do loud really well.
We do hugs.
We do family.
We do love.

My new years resolutions this year revolves around this quote. Because on New Year's Eve someone that was over point that picture out to me and I kinda forgot it was there.

So Here's to my 2010...

In this Home, it's a mess sometimes (deal with it)
We do second chances, cuz when we eat a whole bag of M&M's (we can do cardio)
We do grace, cuz God is #1
We do real, cuz you get what you see (even though it's not always picture perfect)
We do mistakes, cuz we all make mistakes (and god loves to hear about them in prayer)
We do sorrys, cuz no one's perfect and everyone is able to forgive (yes even Ricky)
We do loud really well, um ENOUGH said!
We do hugs, cuz no matter how mad you are a hug can make everything better!
We do family, cuz family is forever (It's the REAL thing)
We do love, cuz love it what holds this family together!
